24th of July

This year, like every year we went to Les' parent's cabin/house up in Kamas for the Annual 24th of July Horseshoe Tournament. This is something Les looks forward to every year. He is totally in his element and loving every minute of it. It's a really fun weekend jammed pack full of fun stuff to do. To start the weekend off, Les and his cousins built a little dam in the creek that runs behind all the houses for the little kiddies to play in and this year they stepped it up a knotch...they built two kiddie pools and a rapid for kids to go down on their tubes.

Here are the boys hard at work.

This is Brooks testing out the rapids section...it was pretty sweet. Quite the craftsmanship.

Saturday morning is the annual kids parade. All the kids line up and walk up and down the lane throwing candy at the adults... the kids love it. Les's family owns this whole lane and it's a private little road so kids and dogs get to roam free. As you can see this is no small thing...it's quite the show.

Brennen even got in on the parade action. He wasn't too sure about it but Kurt helped him make it through.

Here's Bronson at the parade...he mostly just wanted a balloon and once he got it he was done with walking....as you can see he's still trying to wake up.

After the parade it was on to the horseshoe tournament. It's a mixed couple tournament, double elimination, where you are paired with someone else's husband/significant other and vice versa. It's a fun way to get to know everyone and make some new friends. This year we had 33 teams and I was in charge of getting it all organized...I do what I do and it turned out great. Marcia, Kurt and Natalie even came up to join the fun (much to Tracy's dismay) but I was glad they all came.

Here is Nate in perfect form. She was paired with my father-in-law and they did pretty good. At first Nate wanted to get kicked out quick but she didn't realize that Dennis is a heavy hitter so she was in it for the long haul. After a while she really got into it and was pretty disappointed when they got out. I think she took like 7th or something.

Here's Tracy tearing it up! This is Tracy's 2nd year coming and it has quickly become "her time" with me and Les so she wasn't to pleased to have her other sister's raid her party.

While the horse shoe tournament was going on they have lots of stuff for the kids to do. One of which is a pinata. Brennen was totally stoked to hit that pinata with a golf club and he was on the ball about grabbing any candy that fell. A couple of times I had to grab him before he got hit by someone else because he was going for the candy while the kids were still swinging.

One of the many casualties of the weekend. Ever got whacked by a ball that Brennen hit and she got this awesome shinner. Tough girl.

Bronson decided to make Ever feel better about her little boo boo by hand feeding her strawberries. So sweet....and hilarious!

Brennen was in heaven. He was surrounded by lots of boys who wanted to play with him, but he made a special bond with Brittan, although he could never say his name. He just called him "that boy"

3rd place horseshoe winners. Joe and Tiffany. They each got $35

2nd Place - Mark and Angie (a.k.a. Natalie's nemesis) They got $50 each.

1st place - Joe and DeeDee. They each got $80. Kurt came in 5th place. He was so close to winning some cash...maybe next year Kurt!

After the tournament it was time to party it up. Here are me and Tracy enjoying the festivities. There was also an adult hula hoop contest. Which was hilarious! Here are some of the highlights...

Good stuff. I have a ton more pictures but I think this post is long enough. Needless to say, this a great time every year.
